The Egyptian Medicines Authority launched the "Together Towards Safe Medicine" initiative, with the aim of contributing to the development of pharmaceutical care, in public pharmacies in Egypt, to implement pharmaceutical vigilance activities; This ensures that patients receive safe medication. The initiative aims to enhance the services of public pharmacies to provide a service for receiving reports of drug side effects; By raising the level of pharmacists’ technical performance, providing a safe drug or medical supplement to the Egyptian patient, and inaugurating the Egyptian Pharmacovigilance Center “Community Club EPVC” ​​group, which includes pharmacies that are pioneers in implementing pharmacy vigilance activities. The launch of the initiative included a speech by: Dr. Ayman Al-Khatib, Vice President of the Egyptian Medicines Authority, and Dr. Rasha Ziadeh, Assistant Chairman of the Authority for Development Affairs and Capacity Development, and Dr. Sherine Abdel-Gawad, Head of the Central Administration for Pharmaceutical Care, on the authority’s role in enhancing the role of pharmaceutical care in Egypt towards implementing Egypt’s Vision 2030, providing safe and effective medicine for the Egyptian patient, the importance of the role of pharmacological vigilance in ensuring the safety of medicines in the Egyptian market, and strengthening the role of public pharmacies in Egypt towards providing Serving the patient’s pharmacovigilance, and creating continuous means of communication between the Drug Authority and public pharmacies. This comes from the vision of the Egyptian Medicines Authority to develop the pharmaceutical services provided to the Egyptian patient, and to raise the professional competence of the Egyptian pharmacist, in order to ensure the application of the highest levels of pharmaceutical care, and in a manner that achieves patient safety and security, and is in line with achieving the vision of Egypt 2030 “and based on international references; to raise the level of pharmaceutical services In Egypt, raising the level of the pharmacy profession, and creating new competitive opportunities for public pharmacies, in order to provide a better service for patient safety, and support public pharmacies by implementing global drug safety activities.
