The Egyptian Medicines Authority has warned citizens of the possibility of interactions with some cough medicines when taken with sedatives or some other types. The Egyptian Medicines Authority called on citizens to consult a doctor or pharmacist when taking cough suppressants with medicines such as sedatives or drugs that help sleep, or when suffering from depression or psychological disorders. The Egyptian Medicines Authority stated that antitussives are medicines that reduce coughing associated with colds. And the authority said in an awareness leaflet, today: "You must consult a doctor or pharmacist, if you take this medicine with medicines such as sedatives or medicines that help you sleep, or if you suffer from depression or psychological disorders."
